Community

Work within the church:

From teaching a Sunday school class to mowing the lawn or helping with the media booth for the services, there are many ways to help.

UUMC hosts many community organizations.  Among them are:

Scouts - Our church has housed the Boy Scouts since 1910. Various Boy Scout, Cub Scout and Girl Scout groups meet here three evenings a week.

University Child Development Center (UCD)

This center has been housed in UUMC for 40 years. This center is made up of mostly children of college students. Well trained staff are here to care for your children while you are at college.

College Hill Community:

Our church hosts the annual College Hill Chili Feed, offers legendary thrift sales for the community, provides space for Washburn mu-sic student recitals, and lots more.

Work within the community:

University UMC works closely with many Service Agencies.  Among these are Doorstep, Let’s Help, Fellowship and Faith, the Rescue Mission, and Hands on Topeka. Each of these need and welcome volunteers.

Our Pastoral Care team visits our home-bound members, as well as bringing them communion. This group also visits members in the hospital.

Mission Trips:
Our members have been involved in many mission trips. Additional trips are being planned. What a wonderful way to experience more of God’s love
